Using human nail clippers to groom dogs would be a bad idea because human nail clippers aren’t designed for the shape of thicker nails of dogs and aren’t safe for them. And You must cut your dog’s nails if you do not want them to curl back and injure your doggo in the long run. Dog nail clippers come in a variety of styles as well.
There are scissors and guillotine clippers, which are not as frightening as they sound. When you don’t want to cut your dog’s nails, you can use a nail grinder. All of this to say, there is a lot of variety in nail clippers, making it difficult to find what you require. That’s why we decided to give our dogs regular nail trims to see which ones worked best and didn’t frighten them too much. We could complete the task quickly and easily with these nail clippers. While these Zen clippers are slightly more expensive than the previous options, the adjustable blades make the extra cost worthwhile. In our experience, adjusting the width of the blade to avoid crushing our dog’s nails before trimming them was simple. Not only that, but it also ensured that it was appropriate for both our larger and smaller breeds. The stainless steel blades also stayed sharp for a long time, but we weren’t crazy about the grip.
The unusual grip design was not as comfortable for us as the other brands, so we quickly got used to it. This blade can be adjusted to a maximum width of 11 millimeters and a minimum width of 2 millimeters, which is quite a wide range. However, even the widest width wasn’t enough for our bulldog so you might have to keep that in mind.

In many ways, this Dremel cordless kit was a dream to use. If you prefer a nail grinder to a clipper, this could be a good option for you. Though it is quite pricey, the numerous modifications make it worthwhile. While I know how to trim our dog’s nails, the various extensions did cause me some confusion at first. This is a great buy if you have multiple pets running around your house, but it may be an excessive and not to mention expensive buy for just one dog.
Our dogs were also naturally terrified when this machine was turned on, and it took quite a few treats to convince them to submit to nail grinding. However, if your dog is regularly taken to the vet for grooming, this Dremel kit probably isn’t for you.

Safari trimmers are ideal for larger breeds because the double-sided blades made it relatively easy to cut the thicker nails. The safety stop also ensured that you didn’t go too far when cutting the nails. The rubber grip was actually quite comfortable and kept our hands from slipping. While the brand brags about the tension spring that aids in nail cutting, we found that it took a lot of effort to get a clean cut because of it.
It has a simple design and gets the job done quickly. So, what else could we have wanted? It is also quite the affordable option and the stainless steel blades are of surprisingly high quality. Highly recommended if you are on a budget.

If none of the other options appealed to you and you’re looking for a guillotine clipper, this could be the one. We were surprised by how heavy and sturdy it felt when we got it. It is obvious that it will last a long time, which is exactly what we wanted. The blades were also simple to replace, and they removed our dog’s overgrown nails without hurting them.
It also doesn’t make any noise, so our dog wasn’t startled while we were trimming her nails, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. However, there is no safety guard, so you must pay close attention to where you are cutting. While it is available in two sizes, it is not suitable for very large breeds and may pinch their nails.

This one could appear to be identical to the ones we listed before, but it differs from them in a few key ways. It features a lock as well as a safety stop, both of which were quite simple for us to operate and really helpful when we needed to store it. In spite of our judgment that it was a little weighty, it also felt quite durable.
