Remember Caitlyn?

She made news a few years ago when she was found with her muzzle duct taped so tightly, that she almost died. The man responsible has been accused of animal abuse, and recently, he stood in front of a parole board to see if he would be released back into society.

Caitlyn’s a far cry from where she used to be, and now she lives a life of luxury and fame.

The same cannot be said for her abuser.

Because the board had decided that his crimes were severe enough to be denied paroleand he will be behind bars for his misdeeds. Caitlyn probably doesn’t care, but since she’s the unofficial mascot of the Charleston Animal Society, it makes sense for us to celebrate in her stead.

William Dodson was the abuser, and the board was unanimous in their decision.

Not only will he spend the rest of his sentence in jail, he will also be slapped with a federal charge to serve a 15-year sentence for drug and illegal weapon charges. About what he did to Caitlyn, he said, ““I guess I feel a little remorse.”

The director of anti-cruelty at the Charleston Animal Society spoke out.

Aldwin Roman, the director, commented on when he saw Caitlyn for the first time.

“When I saw her, my jaw dropped. I’ve seen a lot of terrible animal cruelty cases but this was one of the worst. Her eyes are very captivating and she just had this look of defeat. The stance of having given up not only physically but emotionally. How could she trust anyone after what she experienced?”

Wow what an exhausting day! Looking at this face literally makes every bit of the struggle melt away! #IamCaitlyn #adoptatcas #Caitlynthedog #JusticeforCaitlyn

She had to undergo a lot of surgeries to fix her muzzle.

“She’s getting to finally be a normal dog, She goes for walks, running, goes to the beach, playing, and she can bark. She can bark as much as she wants and no one is going to try to tape her mouth shut ever again.”
