Want to walk your dog?

Well, I won’t stop you unless it’s freezing cold out there. While you might not feel as cold, do remember that humans wear clothes. Yes, I am aware that dogs have a thin or thick coat of fur depending on their breed.

It doesn’t, however, stop dogs from suffering from hypothermia.

This is exactly the reason the Veterinarian Dr. Kim Smyth has created a chart that shows pet owners when it is safe to go out with their pets and when to stay in. So that you’ll always know when it is too cold for your canine best friend to go out.

The chart had a recommendation based on the dog’s breed and size which makes a lot of sense.

It turns out, that the cute dog sweaters might be useful after all.

It makes sense that small dogs would suffer from frostbite and hypothermia in not that cold temperatures while the big dogs might be fine in a relatively cold environment.

So it might be the perfect time to invest in some dog clothes and don’t forget paw warmers!

If your dog starts shivering that is an alarming sign that it’s time to get back in the house.
