What do dogs think while doing what they do? Life would have been so much easier if our furry children talked in our tongue. But we have to settle for the woofs and boofs. Nevertheless, we somehow find order in this chaotic form of communication. This is what leads us to imagine what our doggos might be saying, for that’s what we can do best. When Rupert Fawcett takes it a tad bit further by making comics on these funny dog-talks, we welcome it with both hands!
All the confusion and frustrations that you have gone through to give your dog what he/she wants have received a funny twist. Off the Leash is a series of comics by this artist from London that interprets dog logic.
Rupert actually shot to fame with his Fred Cartoons series in the early 90s and continues to work on this new project amassing him close to 1 million followers on Facebook.
#1. Always a Pup
It’s the best if you don’t have a liquid or a computer. -Silent Skeleton
#2. Personal Interest
The artist had the following to say about the comics.
The inspiration comes from growing up with dogs and the dogs of family members, friends, and even strangers I may see out and about with their dogs. -Rupert
#3. Finding the Spot
I was dog-sitting for an officer when I was stationed in Heidelberg and this exact thing happened. We took the dog into town but prior we tried to get her to do her business.
She ended up going right in the middle of a street that had heavy pedestrian traffic.
Stupid me hadn’t brought any bags along (left them in the car) and had to stand there with the dog and a big steaming pile of poo while people walked by giving me all kinds of looks. Some scowled, some laughed at me.
My friend took her sweet time getting back to me with a bag. -Paul K. Johnson
#4. Playing Dangerously
Rupert’s life-long attachment with these smart and sometimes not-so-smart canines ensures that all of us can relate to the perspective he offers. Fawcett has explained the little things your dogs do and the supposed thought-process that goes behind them.
He believes that all the tantrums your dog throws and all the cuteness your dog shows are the results of their love for you. They always intend the best for you.
