Airedales are smart, athletic and endlessly versatile — historically hunters, guardians and even wartime messengers. They need real daily exercise, mental challenge and consistent training to keep that independent terrier brain on side. The wiry coat is low-shedding but needs regular stripping or clipping. Loyal and protective, with a playful, sometimes headstrong streak — a brilliant dog for an active, engaged owner.
