Malamutes are friendly and people-loving but built to pull heavy loads over distance, so they need a lot of exercise and a securely fenced yard (they dig and roam). The dense coat blows out dramatically and they overheat easily. Strong prey drive, food-motivated training and a stubborn streak mean they suit an experienced, active owner who can keep them busy and cool.
