American Foxhounds are friendly, mellow housemates but supreme athletes built to run for hours, so they need a great deal of exercise — under-exercised they grow restless and very vocal. Bred to work in packs, they’re sociable with dogs and people and dislike being alone. The nose rules, so recall is unreliable and a secure yard is essential. A lovely, low-maintenance dog for a very active, tolerant home.
