Whippets are easy, adaptable house dogs: a couple of walks plus a daily sprint satisfies them, and the rest of the day is for snuggling under a blanket. The fine coat and lean build mean they get cold easily. Like all sighthounds they have a keen prey drive and need a secure space; recall can be unreliable when something darts away. Devoted, clean and gentle.
