Dalmatians are high-energy endurance athletes bred to trot for miles, so they need serious daily exercise and a job — under-exercised, they’re bouncy and destructive. They’re smart, trainable and intensely loyal, but shed those stiff white hairs relentlessly. Two health quirks matter: a high rate of congenital deafness (responsible breeders BAER-test) and a unique uric-acid metabolism that means urinary stones and a special diet for some dogs.
