Everyone, including dogs, tend to wander around on their own and come back home soon.
Not in this case.
Louie, the 12-year-old sheepdog, made his parents worry when he didn’t come home after going out for a walk on his own.
After the afternoon had passed, Louie returned home, looking completely exhausted and buckled under a bush, according to Marolyn Diver, daughter of Louie’s owners.
“We were worried that someone would have hurt him.”
Upon his arrival, Marolyn’s mother saw that there was a note wedged in between his collar. The note read the following:
“Louie is the hero of the day. He led me to Maddy in distress stuck under a branch pile. Cheers, Rob.”
This was then followed by Marolyn quickly placing a blanket over Louie, who gladly snuggled into and remained in there until the next morning.
Unbeknownst to them, Rob is a farmer who happens to stay close by, and Maddy is his dog.
According to Marolyn, Rob was among the many neighbors who constantly told the old dog to “go home” whenever he was present in their place.
They soon learned that Rob wasn’t able to find Maddy the day he went to town but found Louie instead, who insisted on being followed.
“Rob said he was 100 percent certain of what Louie was doing, and his main goal was clear: bringing Rob to Maddy.”
Once they were reunited, Louie assisted Rob in the removal of Maddy from the ground, pulling branches and digging out the soil.
As soon as she was free, both the exhausted dogs ran to the nearest pool and drank from it.
“Louie was given dog biscuits as a small token of appreciation, and Rob thought he should write a small note explaining Louise’s absence just in case he got into trouble for coming back home late.” Marolyn continued.
