Low-Shedding Dog Breeds
These are the breeds that leave the least hair on your sofa. They are often searched for as "hypoallergenic", so it is worth being straight about that: no dog is truly hypoallergenic. Allergies are usually triggered by dander and saliva proteins rather than hair itself, and a low-shedding coat spreads less of it around a home — it does not remove it. If someone in your household reacts to dogs, spend time with the individual dog before committing, and talk to your doctor.

How we picked these: breeds we rate 2 out of 5 or lower for shedding. The list is generated from our own breed ratings rather than hand-picked, and refreshes whenever we update a breed profile — so any breed we have not rated yet simply is not shown.
